Food Writers New Zealand, founded as the New Zealand Guild of Food Writers in 1988, celebrates its 30th year with a conference full of great food stories, wisdom and learning. We’ll be taking a look back to the early years of the Guild, and looking forward to the future of food and food communicators.

Join marketing and branding expert and Food Writers NZ member Tash McGill for a practical session for all food communicators on how to make the digital and social media tools we have at our fingertips work to our advantage.

Born in Whanganui, much-lauded and -awarded chef Peter Gordon joins Nicola Legat for a chat about his life in food from his early days of cooking in the 1980s through to today; with a look ahead to future trends. Join the conversation with an audience Q&A.
12.30PM LUNCH LIKE THE 80S! BROUGHT TO YOU BY POTATOES NZ
Enjoy updates on nostalgic favourites from 1988, along with wines from Villa Maria or non-alcoholic cocktails from Seedlip. We’ll hear an update from Potatoes NZ and you can forage for fermented goodies for your lunch plates from our food stations.

A look back over the past 30 years of food communication. A panel of experienced food communicators, convened by Lauraine Jacobs, shares stories of the Guild’s founding, early years and evolution.
2.30-3.30PM NETWORKING, DRINKS AND SAMPLING BROUGHT TO YOU BY DEER INDUSTRY NZ
Time to relax, catch up, try new products from our Corporate members, taste a delicious Seedlip cocktail or enjoy a glass of wine along with delicious canapés from Deer Industry NZ. You’ll have another opportunity to view nostalgic materials collected by members and our display of 30 years of food writing. Linger and chat, and don’t forget your goodie bag when it’s time to go.
