When Tony Stewart from Clooney Restaurant suggested an exclusive lunch for Foodwriters NZ we knew it would be popular, but didn’t imagine it would sell out in less than 60 minutes. Michelle Jones reports.
You could sense everyone’s anticipation as we wandered through the elegant curtained booths in the main restaurant and down the stairs to the belle époque private dining room with its open plan kitchen and inner courtyard.
Over four hours, Nobu Lee and his team delighted us with canapés celebrating New Zealand culinary heritage, followed by a sumptuous five-course degustation showcasing local ingredients with beautifully matched wines or juices.
Huge thanks to Melissa (www.melicacy.biz) for capturing such beautiful images of the stunning dishes for us to share.
We look forward to holding another exclusive Foodwriters NZ dining opportunity later in the year. Suggestions for venues are most welcome.
